Carnivore for gym beginners (the 4-day-a-week plan)

How to eat animal-based when you're starting strength training. Protein targets, creatine, electrolytes.

The short answer

For 3-4 training sessions per week, aim for 1.6-2.2g of protein per kg of bodyweight. On carnivore this is easy - 200g of chicken thigh delivers 46g of protein.

Add creatine (5g daily) and electrolytes around training. That's the entire stack.

If you want to lean out, anchor your meals on chicken thighs (leaner than people think) and beef mince. Add one steak per week.

Animal-based eating and resistance training is the most underrated combination in South African fitness.

Protein first, always

Aim for 1.6-2.2g of protein per kg of bodyweight per day. A 75kg beginner needs 120-165g protein daily.

On carnivore this is easy: 500g of beef mince contains about 100g protein.

The 4-day training split

Upper / Lower / Upper / Lower. Two compound lifts per session. Sessions 45-60 minutes. Add weight progressively each week.

Common beginner mistakes

Eating too much ribeye and not enough mince. Taste is great, protein-per-rand is bad.

Skipping organ meats. Liver twice a week covers micronutrients your training demands.

Drinking too little water. Aim for 3L per day, more on training days.
